Please see r22693 on trunk The deprecated methods org.geotools.feature.Feature getParent() and setParent(FeatureCollection) methods have been removed in the api module.
The only thing that concerns me is geotools/trunk/gt/modules/library/render/src/main/java/org/geotools/renderer/lite/CustomGlyphRenderer.java Tests pass, but this class no longer has the ability to navigate its feature collection.
