Heh, I managed to get it working, thought you may not like the way I did it. Here http://geo.openplans.org/aaime/profileTest.zip you can find a sample project where you can run online and stress test on demand, just one type, both or none. Basically, I moved exclusion patterns to properties, and changed them when certain profiles are activated. Try and see for yourself.
