I also added the same check to QueryData, same line of thought as Transaction, but works for read only access too (aka, forgot to close a FeatureReader or a JDBCFeatureCollection iterator). As for having close methods on other objects, I agree, but maybe we don't want too many of them? FeatureSource does not seems to need one the way it's implemented in our current data stores, whilst I see the need at the datastore level in fact (get rid of connection pools for example).
