Simone, I couldn't agree with you more. And the issues you mention are essentially the key elements (local or external delivery of standardized data, any standard). You will soon see more. We are trying to position the visualization in a way that allows others to most easily build delivery mechanisms.
Making a solution simple is the hardest thing to do. But that's what we are working on, a core that can be readily extended. This core must do so in a way that allows further optimization to the core without breaking extensions. We won't be perfect, but we're trying really hard. Thanks for your interest and your support. -Patrick [EMAIL PROTECTED] Project Manager NASA World Wind 650.604.5656 (office) 650.269.2788 (cell) -----Original Message----- From: Simone Giannecchini [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2007 2:53 PM To: Paul Ramsey; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: 'Chris Holmes'; 'Geotools-devel'; 'Chad Zimmerman' Subject: Re: [Geotools-devel] Java Worldwind Wow, that's great news guys!!! I pushed some people we work for to fund some work to integrate a couple of our GeoTols things right inside WWJ. I have to admit that I had to push a lot because there was not so much info around about WWJ, hence people were quite skeptical about it, even if the first tests seem good to me. Anyway it seems that in the end we should get some time to get our hands dirty on WWJ before the summer (crossing fingers here). I would really love to see WWJ interacting with OGC services, or loading external data like my own high res mosaic of orthphoto from my disk possibly with my elevation (or bathymetry ??) model. The only complain I have is that the availaible version on svn is quite old, I hope that some new code will be committed soon. Thx, Simone. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Ramsey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "'Chris Holmes'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'Geotools-devel'" <geotools-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>; "'Chad Zimmerman'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2007 11:24 PM Subject: Re: [Geotools-devel] Java Worldwind > Patrick, > > Any change you and/or your team could make an appearance at FOSS4G > (www.foss4g2007.org) this year?
