Guys.... KISS!!!! Lets keep this simple. What Andrea has now is simple. Reporting back which hints were actually used is feature creep... and correct if i am wrong is not something Andrea needs to acomplish his goal.
Andrea and I had a discussion that we could possibly add Query.setHonoredHints(Hints) for the FeatureCollection to actually report which hints were used... tehere is however an issue with cloning.
