I've offered my services as an OSGeo mentor to Adrain, Jody, Frank and Chris. Here restated for others to read and participate in:
As a mentor, I'd be looking to see: * A goal to be graduated within 6 months. Less would be better. * A plan showing what needs to be done and who will be doing it. The plan doesn't need to be to the smallest detail, or have a name against every task, but it would be good to scope the work. The email from Adian below is a good start. * A plan for addressing legal review. It seems that accessing Lawyers is a problem. The obvious solution is to source Lawyers through OSGeo, and I'll volunteer to lobby for this. But it would be good to see a backup plan as well. * I'm expecting my involvement to be ~ 1 hour / week reviewing OSGeo related documentation. I'm not planning to get involved technically or to monitor geotools email lists - but will answer emails directed to me. I hope the above fits with your ideas of what you want from a mentor. Please discuss amongst yourselves and get back to me with your decision. Feel free to forward my email onto whomever you feel is appropriate. Disclosures: To be completely open, I should note all vested interests. 1. I was one of the early Geotools developers but have not committed any code of significance for ~ 5 years. 2. I have previously been on the Geotools PSC. 3. I am currently project managing a project for the Canadian Geographic Data Infrastructure Interoperability Pilot which uses Geotools. One of my team members, Stefan Hansen hopes to commit some his updates back into the Geotools repository. 4. My employer, Lisasoft offers Geoserver support - primarily for Australia. -- Cameron Shorter Systems Architect, http://lisasoft.com.au Tel: +61 (0)2 8570 5050 Mob: +61 (0)419 142 254 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
