I second you're welcome to join. Andrea made a good introduction of how the joining process is, so this is just to tell you do not hesitate to do that and contact Saul and/or me to discuss about what and how you want to improve the sde module. It would also be great to know if you're planning on a long term commitment to maintain the module or are just interested in providing a couple punctual patches, etc
