Just checked our Maven repository:
http://lists.refractions.net/m2/org/opengis/geoapi/2.1-SNAPSHOT/
The latest GeoAPI snapshot is dated October 19, which should be okay for the
error your reported (the corresponding GeoAPI interface change is dated October
18 according "svn log").
As an alternative to running "mvn install" on GeoAPI checkout, it may be worth
to try "mvn install -u" on the geotools checkout.
