'repeatFirstBand' was just an illustration of how we could rewrite 'bandMerge'.
But if the later is not used I would prefer to remove it completly and deprecate
'bandMerge', unless someone can give us a use case, in which case it would be
helpful to write it in the javadoc (otherwise while I understand what the method
does, I don't understand for which purpose).
