The problem I might foresee with these changes would arise if someone uses a commercial gif writer which integrates into ImageIO but does not like the same trick we do for making ImageIO gif writer to work. Actually it might turn out that right now Imageio gif writer is smarter then it was when I wrote those classes and now we can remove some hacks I set up at the time, as you did to make WarpTransform2D. I guess that since ImageWorker does not really focus on writing images out ,using a fixed writer that we know that works is not that bad. Anyway if this causes you some troubles I guess we can remove this ilimitation and state in the javadoc that GIF writing has been tested only using the Imageio writer.
