So we actually have a serious problem then; this is a regression when 
jaxb is upgraded. The exception is technically correct; I could check 
that the "prefix" is known by hand; and not depend on 
DatatypeConverter.parseQName( ... ) behaviour.

That actually sounds a lot better to me; let me try it.

Discussion was in the jaxb 2.1.5 deploy-file; gdavis is testing now. I 
am trying to help out on an email subject that appeared dead due to you 
being busy and overworked; just because this is a priority for my team 
here does not mean I want you to change you schedule to keep us going...
