I had some "outsider" comments on getting permission to write to the
GeoTools wiki page, which I did today, and I wanted to quickly share
them before I forgot.

I think that Step 4 and Step 5 under the "Getting Edit Permission"
section of the following page might be duplicated:

http://sites.google.com/site/openjumpwiki/gpx-support

I also noticed that I could enter and use a Confluence user name
greater than 17 characters, but that this wasn't allowed for Xircles.
I don't have any idea what Confluence and Xircles are, but this was
somewhat frustrating.

In summary, getting write permission on the wiki seems like a
pain-in-the-neck. After the user is done with the 5 steps, he still
has to wait for approval.

If GeoTools is an OSGeo project, might we consider using the OSGeo
wiki? I realize the migration would be a lot of work, but we could at
least start putting new content on an OSGeo GeoTools wiki page.

I have no idea what conversations and/or discussion of this topic has
already taken place, so please take this e-mail with a grain of salt.
It just seems like signing up for the wiki was more steps than is
really needed.
