The state of localization in GeoTools is somewhat partial. A few modules uses
java.util.ResourceBundle for localized messages, but most modules don't. For the
few modules that use ResourceBundle, the resources are there:

http://svn.geotools.org/trunk/modules/library/metadata/src/main/java/org/geotools/resources/i18n/

But please be aware that this is an unsupported mechanic which may change in
future GeoTools version! Actually the localization is an other topic that needs
cleaning in the GeoTools project.

If you wish to go ahead nevertheless, tThe resource of interest for Spanish
translation are the files ending in "_sp.properties"; you can ignore the other
ones. For example the following files contains error messages in Spanish:

      Errors_sp.properties

You will notice that there is only 3 entries; for all missing entries, GeoTools
fallback on the default locale (English). So if you wish to complete the
entries, you can take one of the following approach, at your convenience:

* Open Erros_sp.propeties in an editor. Copy there (excluding the 3
existing entries) the content of either Errors_en.properties (English)
or Errors_fr.properties (French), depending on which language you
are the most confortable. Then translate the sentence on the right
side of '='. Blocks like {0}, {1}, etc. are handled especially - they
comply to java.text.MessageFormat syntax. They need to stay there, but
you can change ther order they appear as you wish for making them to
appear at the right position for Spanish sentence constructs.

I suggest that you edit the properties file with NetBeans rather than
notepad, since NetBeans has syntax coloring and handles better the
special characters. Maybe Eclipse work as fine, I don't know.

* Alternatively, if you are using NetBeans as your IDE and if your screen
is wide enough, it may be easier to checkout the source code from SVN,
mount the metadata module in NetBeans, go to the org.geotools.resourceS.i18n
package, right click on "Errors.properties", then select "Open". All
languages will appear in a table, so it is easier to see which entries
are translated and why ones remaind to be done.

Same work would need to be done on Vocabulary_es.properties and
Loggings_en.properties...

Once the translation is done, you can send me the property files for inclusion
in the SVN.

Regards,

        Martin
