Hi Francios - nice to meet you. You are correct the jpox module is out of date and "abandoned" - indeed we just removed it from trunk earlier this week. If you would like to create a new "data nucleus" module you are welcome to the task; and I can let you know how to get svn access and all that.
If you can start by reading the developers guide; and getting back to me with respect to your interest. There is a procedure for getting svn access, creating a new module and that sort of thing. The JPOX module was also done for a thesis - and then it stopped. I would like to talk to you about avoid the same scenario happening again. When you review the developers guide can you look into the requirements to make your module "supported" (basically - increased test coverage and a page of user documentation) and see if that is something you can accomplish over the course of your thesis.
