I ran into two articles and thought of you.

With respect to the Executor work you had me look into for the Process 
API - the following article shows a good implementation of a thread that 
will restart itself; but still respect out of memory errors. Possibly we 
could use this for some of our threads that clean up after the 
referencing API?
