Hi David,

It should probably be made clear that those jdbc based datastores that 
are currently maintined (postgis and db2) are not obligated to switch 
over to the new architecture. Of course if you are interested in 
switching over we would of course support it.

In terms of design docs there is not much... the new jdbc datastore 
architecture was something that more or less evolved from an experiment 
that I began working on some time ago. It held up quite well with the 
addition of an H2 datastore... so the decision was made to implement an 
new oracle datastore based on it... since the current one is 
unmaintained and a bit of a mess.

As for time frames, we are delivering the oracle implementation to a 
customer mid September.
