Hi Adrian; I found your news in yesterday's meeting to be disappointing.
I had let you take over stewardship of the geometry module as you had some work and interest in the area; as such you moved it to an unsupported module (to warn users you may change the api) and now are abandoning the work? This seems a fairly caviller attitude to what is now a couple person years of work; for how many changes in geoapi are you making this trade? I will talk to Graham when I return to Canada and see if this is a good direction for that code base. Since we both work for a consulting company - and take short term direction from clients - we do not always have the direction and planning perspective to see the way ahead. This is in conflict with my roll on the PMC - where we track a course for the library and ensure that time and effort of contributors is respected, this is a requirement for GeoTools to be a safe project to contribute effort into. I trust that each module maintainer feels a similar responsibility; and excitement; in working with others. This places me, personally, in a double bind; I need to respect your volunteer time in looking at (and revising) this work. As such I should do everything in my power to help you. I also need to respect those who originally did this work; and make sure it is not being disregarded without cause. This perhaps is a better conversation to have on the GeoAPI list as I understand the motivation to change is occurring there?
