Hey all,

Our DNS registration for the 'geotools.org' domain, held by our fearless
but possibly lost leader James Macgill, appears to have lapsed. As
explained below, we are working on resolving the issue.

For practical purposes, these equivalents are true today:
  www.geotools.org   --> docs.codehaus.org/display/Geotools/
  svn.geotools.org   --> gtsvn.refractions.net
so you can map these equivalences in your hosts file (happens before the
DNS system is queried), you can do an 'svn switch' for now.

The resolution we are working on:
        1) OSGeo is willing and able to maintain the domain for us if we
        can transfer it to them.
        2) We have contacted James to see if we can get the control of
        the registration from him.
        3) We have contacted the service provider to see if we can
        directly transfer the domain from them.
If either 2 or 3 occurs, we should be able to do an orderly transition
of the domain. Otherwise, we can wait until the domain lapses completely
and then register the domain when it becomes available. The latter is
dangerous since there are 'bots which automatically squat expired names
and may be quicker than we are in grabbing the free domain. So we will
see how things pan out.

Regardless, it looks like this will take a little while to resolve.
