Yeah, this is not ideal. I plan to fix this the *right* way, more or 
less adopting the solution you presented. However first I want to clean 
up the dialects a bit first, more or less separating the prepared case 
from the non-prepared case. Discussed here:

And then tackle this problem. So if you could just old tight for a bit 
longer it will be fixed soon.
