I'm trying to understand the issue a little bit more. The license uses this wording, which I copied from the binary java license, http://java.com/en/download/license.jsp: ------------------------------------------------------------------- ". You acknowledge that Licensed Software is not designed or intended for use in the design, construction, operation or maintenance of any nuclear facility. Sun Microsystems, Inc. disclaims any express or implied warranty of fitness for such uses" ------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as I understand it, it's simply a way to stress they are not liable if java is used within a nuclear facility. It does not say not to use it in a nuclear facility, it's saying that if you do so, Sun is not liable. Is this really different from the GPL when it states: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 15. Disclaimer of Warranty. THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE PROGRAM, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
