The code format mvn plugin still works last time I checked; is it not 
making use of these Jalopy settings? For my own projects I now use 
FindBugz (a similar static analysis tool).

For formatting I use eclipse.

But yeah this is a case of move it or lose it; can you check if the 
source formatting instructions work for you? Then we can decide.
