Mmmm...., I don't think that's necessary Landon. If there's a perception at the moment that only maven gurus can contribute to geotools then I'd vote for making it clear in the developer docs and on the web site that that's not the case. For a start contributions come in all shapes and sizes: yours is a serious biggie and sure, to deploy it it needed to be mavenized. My biggest code contribution to date was very small, a single class in fact, but I'd like to think it was still worthwhile - I use it anyway :-) Jody hacked into Geotools shape for me because I wouldn't have known how at the time. Even for a major code contribution, if the value to Geotools is obvious we will surely find helping hands to adapt it to maven etc. Also, it doesn't worry me to read complaints about maven. My favourite maven joke (actually, my only maven joke) is the advice for setting up a new maven project that included "...and then we go to lunch while maven downloads the internet".
