ArcSDEQuery's resultCount is unusable on heavy layers
-----------------------------------------------------

                 Key: GEOT-2355
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-2355
             Project: GeoTools
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 2.5.2
            Reporter: Fredrik Holmqvist
         Attachments: ArcSDEQuery_result_count.patch

The current implementation of resultCount takes 5 minutes to execute on our
heaviest layer. (What's worse is the usage of session is not reentrant, making
all sessions to the ArcSDE database wait for those 5 minutes. I suspect flawed
locking, maybe a bad call to synchronized somewhere in these critical sections,
making the whole session handling working in serial instead of parallell.)

Here is a patch to fix resultCount which reduces the time to less than 1 second
instead of 5 mins.

Afaict there is no ill effects, but it needs proper testing.
