Hey:

We have managed to make a bit of progress on the idea of collaborating
with Deegree on the production of a Geometry implementation to tackle
3D / GMl3 etc... Our Feature model design should isolate us enough
from this implementation to allow collaboration to work; right now we
are shopping around for a svn home to hold the code base.

Here are the IRC logs:

Here is the update from the Deegree meeting
(https://wiki.deegree.org/deegreeWiki/deegree3/DeveloperMeeting/deegree3Developer20090707)
on the subject:

1. Geometry collaboration
The collaboration on the geometry subsystem has been approved by the
PSC, so we're looking forward to tackling the outstanding challenges
together with the guys from GeoTools, GeoServer and other interested
parties. Current discussion is taking place at the OSGeo java-collab
list.

We have a couple of things to do on our end:
- help find an svn home for this work
- find out who in the geotools team is interested in taking part
(please sign up to java-collab now)
- determine a time frame

I am finding that there are a lot of coding/direction decisions
associated with this work that we should discuss at some point. Would
a "proposal" be the correct venue; or email discussion? It seems silly
to have a proposal until there is code to integrate; but it also seems
silly to try and contribute when we have not nailed down our
requirements as a project. Chances are questions will arise after each
"java-collab" meeting that we should talk about on the list here.
