I think you could use the spike area? So that we don't add another minute to the build... As for hammering hard changes on the code you're obviously free to do so in your fork, but please when you come back to provide patches make it so that each one does one change and one change only, otherwise reviewing them will be too hard. My personal preference is that you get down to business and be productive first, and if it's possible without hindering too much your work, to get a stream of smaller patches to be applied a bit at a time so that it's easier to pinpoint the cause in case a change makes things go south in an application using GT2 (either uDig or GeoServer, hopefully OpenJump too in the future).
