Hi Gabriel,

Thank you very much for your reply and I look forward to working with
you all and contributing to this very useful tool.

To answer to your question, I think its good to introduce ourselves to
the community who we really are.
I am Lim Goh, 4th year Computer Science student at University of
Waterloo. Me along with 5 other students from University of Virgin
Islands, University of Toronto and University of British Columbia got
together through the UCOSP project to work on this team, which
ultimately aims at adding support for Ingres into Geotools the same
way it already does Oracle and PostGIS. We are mentored and guided by
Andrew Ross from Ingres and we will be working with him, as well as
all of you that is interested in what we are doing, very closely
throughout the term on this project.

For more about me and my team mates, please visit
http://ucosp.wordpress.com/category/ingres/ for more details. In
summary, we have Henry Chow and Anthony McCallum from UBC, Eva Wong
from UofT, Sara Danaher from UVI, Xiaoxiao Li and me from UW.

We expect to perform multiple check-ins for collaboration within our
team. I think we are going to setup a separate duplicate repository of
Geotools on the Ingres server and use a two-phase check-in process. In
other words, we will send a patch to Geotools along with relevant
documentations for review and commit. Right now we are still in the
planning stage, and we will draw up a proposal outlining our design,
plan, timeline estimation, etc and post onto this list, and hopefully
someone will be able to tell us whether we are on the right track, and
where we are making mistakes.

So yes, we will be contributing the Ingres plugin to the GeoTools
repository, and yes, I believe we will ask for commit rights to
relevant nodes in the source tree in the future. We will keep everyone
updated with our progress and thank you all for your help in advance.
