I leaning towards +0 because of this but I would like to hear what
others have to say about the proposal as well.

As for SimpleFeatureIterator, well, the patch is there is get rid
of generics, the readers and the writers are something we don't
expect people to use anymore (though, mind, we never deprecated them)
but FeatureIterator is what anyone using feature collections should
be using, so yeah, I think it makes sense to go all the way down
with it and introduce a SimpleFeatureIterator
