I was more thinking of leaving Hudson exactly the way it is; just changing our policy. Ie allow volunteers to use Java 6 SDK; but still track Java 5 using our build box. It may result in a few more build failures I admit. I am still looking at getting a 2.7.RC out by the end of the month; I have not heard any GeoServer or uDig release plans that call for it; so far just me.
