We found that the shapefile reader/writer reverses polygons depending on their
order.
This is fine for 2D shapefiles, but for 3D shapefiles the vertex order is not
determined
appropriately, thus the inflections based on it are invalid.
We made a patch which fixes the issues we have (polygon order problems), but it
isn't neccesarily
the best way to handle this, and probably more bugs are looming in 3D shapefile
support.
The patch should keep the 2D behavoiur intact, though in general I think the
fixup logic should be
suppressable altogether.
