Hi folks,
I am wondering if there are any good algos or libraries out there to
aid with snapping points onto the nearest geometry (not just lines). I
would like to be able to suggest OSM streets (with a number of
waypoints and curves) close to a point.

I found some suggestion at
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOTDOC/Closest+Point+on+a+Line#ClosestPointonaLine-SnappingwithSnappyPerformance
but that seems to work only for lines, not curved shapes?

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers,
