We found the code; it is in a "coverageio-experiment" and is not part
of the build.
So Andrea the ball is in your court - what do you want to do?

You could adopt the code and make it compile and add it to the nightly
build; I was really hoping to see netcdf drive the refinement of our
grid coverage api (which is a but clunky).

Do you have an thoughts on the code? How is/was it working for you?
