For the sake of clarity, I have renamed this thread.
A) WHERE TO PUT METEO SHAPES My first idea was to put, as you suggest, these extra shapes in the core shape library itself, but that would have put the burden of maintenance on you. Moreover, I expect this lib to grow to include all weather symbols, hence it will sit awkwardly in the core shape lib. For the time being I would like to leave it as it is: just a way to extend the shape library without changing the core GeoTools code (hence the prefix "extshape://"). But, if everything goes according to plan, I expect to add a new module named "meteo-symbols" that will include everything weather-related... and yes, then there will be a "meteo://" prefix ;) B) ALTERNATE_COLOURS IN A LINE SYMBOL Thanks for the suggestion :) I presume the trick lies in having the correct spacing between the alternate symbols (stroke-dasharray and stroke-dashoffset attributes).
