Hi, so I went ahead and committed the support for the wildcard 2d crs on trunk.
Haven't used any of the codes that caused negative reactions or even raised eyebrowses and went straight for 404000. Features: - in the official user range - way beyond anything ESRI uses for its custom codes - not used by Oracle either (Oracle has srid that go up to 1000000123, so hard to get out it their range) - reminds of 404 (at least there is a tiny chance someone will remember it).
