We be able to configure our release to use SFTP.
Connection credentials are the same ... end point for wagon is different:
sftp: download.osgeo.org
remote path: /osgeo/download/webdav/geotools
http://maven.apache.org/wagon/wagon-providers/wagon-ssh/
Worth a shot? Anyone keen for maven hacking?
