first of all, sorry for cross posting.
We were thinking about aligning GT 2.7 to depend on ImageIO-Ext 1.1.x, as we
have already done for GT-Trunk.
With respect to older ImageIO-Ext 1.0.x series, 1.1.x provides improvements
like:
- Support for GDAL 1.7.3 (Currently ImageIO-Ext 1.0.8 still uses a very old
GDAL 1.4.5)
- Support for BigTIFF (Breaking the 4GB TIFF limit).
- Support for "destinationRegion" param to support oversampling/subsampling
without specifying
sourceSubSampling<http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/imageio/IIOParam.html#setSourceSubsampling%28int,%20int,%20int,%20int%29>parameters.
This may be used when dealing with readers which internally take
care of performing subSampling/overSampling, as the gdal readers.
In case there isn't any objection, I will open a JIRA in the next days and
afterwards, I'll start working on that topic.
