Right. Not such a big deal given how git works, people can collaborate
setting up topic branches somewhere,
but it's annoying and we lose the ability to track the goodness of the
various changes with the build server.

Conversely, branching off a new stable series means that we need to setup
build jobs for it, since the current
stable series won't die for another month yet (and actually, GeoSolutions
might be interested in putting
resources to do yet another release in two months to reduce risks with some
backports that have
been positively voted in GeoServer land... but I have yet to confirm that).
