I agree with Christian on this one. I generally think that master should be
open for development at all times even though i am a firm believer in doing
all non trivial work on feature/topic branches until they are stable enough
to be merged into master.

Setting up the new build jobs shouldn't be a big deal... usually only takes
me a few minutes to copy the configuration from the other jobs.

Regarding the first beta release from master I can volunteer some time to
help out. Actually if history shows us anything there are always some issue
with the first release in a new series.
