Hi,
I made some improvements to the grid / ortholine vode already available
in the geotools grid package, and also described here:

basically the improvement is that I needed to create a 'subscale' on the
major grid lines. to see the result, see any of these generated charts
(100MBs each):
http://openaviationmap.tyrell.hu/oam_hungary_lambert_500000.tiff
http://openaviationmap.tyrell.hu/oam_hungary_mercator_500000.tiff
you will see that the major grid lines contain subscales ('ladder like
features').
I wonder if this is interesting enough to include in the main codebase.
basically I made some changes to the OrthoLineBuilder class, see here:

I'd be happy to get this into shape for a patch into the main codebase,
