I generated the patch by running a BASH one liner, so it should drop nicely into the release script. Is it just build-release.sh that would need the fix?
My approach to this would be to just do a find and replace on 9-SNAPSHOT with whatever the tag should be. The major version can probably be derived from the supplied tag.
