a long, long time ago this proposal was discussed and vote, but then never
came to be:

Now, it seems we'll manage to put down the work on this one soon.
Is the proposal still valid and is everybody that voted for it (and
eventual new PMC members
since then) still happy about it?
Wondering, what if we also backport to the stable series the dropSchema
API, but limit it
to JDBC stores, e.g., not as a general API, but as an extra method in the
JDBC implementations?
