Perhaps I am a bit out of the loop, didn't we have an API change on this topic
recently (to enable NetCDF files each of which have multiple coverages).
In particular it started stepping back away from AbstractGridCoverage2DReader
in favour of using an interface.
Here is the proposals:

A bunch of additional methods were aded to both list the names of the
coverages, and access the metadata and content using the names.
Can this interface work for geopkg?
