Hi,
following up the last PMC meeting and the need to implement something
a bit smarter about image comparison, that would take into account
antialiasing properly, I've ported Resemble.js to java and hooked
ImageAssert to it.
The image comparison tests now seem to be passing fine on Linux across java
versions,
there was just a single test that I had to chance because the rendering
differences of small circles between versions were just too big
(so I made the circles large, and that apparently solved the problem).
For those that want to try out, the branch is here:
https://github.com/aaime/geotools/tree/resemble
The image comparison code is now pure java, which means it always
runs, not just when certain conditions (perceptualdiff available, flag
raised)
are satisfied. And it's decently fast too, so the image comparison tests
are not slowing down the build a lot.
Now, under these conditions it's important that stuff works on all
platforms.
Can anybody run the build of the above branch on OSX and Windows,
to see if things build fine there too?
You just need to add my repo as a remote, and fetch it to get the branch
that you can use to play locally.
Let me know how tests go, and your opinion about this new image
comparison tool
Cheers
Andrea
