Hi Justin, I made an additional branch: https://github.com/geotools/geotools/compare/wfs-ng-improvements-2.0 which includes an additional patch to support wfs 2.0 in wfs-ng.
I started working on that when that was still on my list as next thing to do. As I explained earlier, this does most to support WFS 2.0 in wfs-ng. The only thing still missing according to me is a parser for gml3.2 (it can work with a wfs2.0 server that outputs gml3 though, but geoserver breaks on that when you try that) and proper testing of course. I think pretty much all of the patch are harmless improvements to the xml bindings... I think it can be committed without problem but I will leave that to the community.
