Nicola, cc'ed, should be very soon making a proposal to replace each and
every JAI
operation we use in Geotools with jai-ext ones.

He can comment on the specific case of Histogram, not sure if it's covered
by his plan or not.

You'll have to wait tomorrow to get an answer though, it's 8pm here ;)
