I tried to help out with the GeoServer release last week (thanks for fixing
the stable/maintenance directories <http://docs.geotools.org>).

GeoTools 12 still needs some help getting out the door:

* [x] publish to source forge
<http://sourceforge.net/projects/geotools/files/GeoTools%2012%20Releases/12.0/>
* [ ] blog post (can steal notes from beta
<http://geotoolsnews.blogspot.ca/2014/07/geotools-12-beta-released.html>
and rc1
<http://geotoolsnews.blogspot.ca/2014/08/geotools-12-rc1-released.html>
announcement)
* [ ] email release announcement

Communication priorities are the same: emphasis Java 7 as a requirement and
highlight new features with links to the documentation.

   - Looking at the update
   <http://docs.geotools.org/latest/userguide/welcome/upgrade.html> page we
   do not have any API regressions for people to hack around
   - circular string

<http://docs.geotools.org/latest/userguide/library/jts/geometry.html#creating-circularstring>
   - content datastore tutorial
   <http://docs.geotools.org/latest/userguide/tutorial/datastore/index.html>
   - Probably safe to note the new wfs
   <http://docs.geotools.org/latest/userguide/library/data/wfs.html> /
   wfs-ng
   <http://docs.geotools.org/latest/userguide/library/data/wfs-ng.html>
   (same connection parameters apply?)
   - The beta noted we were waiting on docs for image mosaic vector foot
   prints and coverage views
