quick peek, the fact that we mess with dates and we don't have a good story
about them has been

So far, we had no funding/volounteer time directed at the problem, in our
company
we normally just set the database and server time zones to GMT and call it
a day,
although it's pretty clear this is not an ideal solution.
About the filter simplifier changes, the part that could cause issues is
the range simplifier,
but that code just collects Comparable range start/end and eventually
merges them,
without altering the range ends themselves.
Ben, on what basis do you claim the simplifier could be the cause? You
forgot to
include a rationale of what operations in the simplifier migth have caused
the date
shift issue.
