Hi,
as you know around a year we added dropSchema call to dataStore, allowing
clients to remove tables/files from the store.
Right now we have an equivalent for coverages only
in StructuredGridCoverage2DReader:
/**
* delete all stuff (database content, indexer files, property files,
associated auxiliary files and so on).
* @param deleteData specifies whether data (granules) should be
deleted too.
*/
void delete(boolean deleteData) throws IOException;
When called with a "false" parameter it would only drop ancillary files
(e.g., index files that
GeoTools built for performance/metadata reasons), with true it would drop
the actual
raster files/tables whatever.
What people think about pushing this method up one level,
in GridCoverage2DReader, to allow
clean removal of every type of coverage?
Of course it would be optional to implement, the default implementation in
AbstractGridCoverage2DReader
would just throw an UnsupportedOperationException
This is just an exploratory mail, if we get to implement this I'll make a
formal proposal of course
