Think that was just a design decision on my part - deprecating and removing
that entire stack of base classes.
For ContentDataStore I moved the useful functionality from that base class
into a DataUtilities.canProcess( Map ) where you can see it used by
ShapefileDataStoreFactory, WFSDataStoreFactory and others.
I don't mind if you think we should make a base class, it would help
implementations be stable if we need to introduce any additional methods in
the future.
