For the IP issue, if we don't hear back from Emanuele, what options do
we have? Would it be possible to remove the code or would we need a
'clean room' implementation?
In the latter case, I haven't seen the function in question (either in
the GeoTools or JAI core codebases). Perhaps I could help out?
Other than that, what's the process for volunteering to help with a
release? I get the sense that a release takes an experienced
contributor around 4 hours (most of which is watching a build and
writing the blog post). Would it take longer the first time?
