No worries, Devon. You can first build locally, you know. ;-) Anyway, don't sweat it as you fixed it right away. A breakage here or there is nothing to worry about, and your FOSS4G fixes are most welcome.
If you want examples of commits gone bad, ask Andrea and Jody about the two incidents in which committers used an ill-considered "git push --force" to inflict massive damage on the main GitHub repo, requiring tedious manual repair (by Andrea I think in both cases).
